Question:
Data Recovery Help - How should I package my data media before sending it to you?
Answer:
Proper packaging of damaged media is important to ensure that your media will not suffer further damage during the delivery.
- It will be good if you could send your media to us in their original packaging.
- If you do not have the original packaging with you, you may want to protect your media by wrapping it up using an anti-static bag. If it is not available, something like a freezer bag may help.
- Certain media such as hard disks are very sensitive to shock. Do not be afraid to "over-wrap" your media.
- Try to pack your media in a box that is at least twice as big as your media to provide support and sufficient space for your media. Empty Space in the box should be filled with bubble wrap or crumpled newspaper to secure your media. Styrofoam peanuts may not be advisable since they attract static charge.
- If possible, paste a "Fragile" sticker on the box to alert the delivery man.
- If your data media had suffered water damage, do not dry it. Instead, wrap the media in a damp sponge and sealed in a plastic bag to prevent the water from drying out.
- If you are still doubtful, just treat your data media like an egg so you will know if you have provided sufficient packing.
