Data Recovery FAQ
Hard Disk Software Recovery

Question:

Software Recovery - Can I use a recovery software to recover my data if my hard disk is not recognized by the BIOS?

Answer:

If the hard disk is not recognized by the BIOS, then it is not possible for any software to communicate with the hard disk and hence, in this scenario, you cannot use recovery software to recover data.

The BIOS must first detect the hard disk before any disk data information could be passed on to the operating system (such as the Windows operating system) and then to the software application.

In general, failure to detect the hard disk in BIOS is hardware failure that warrants a hardware fix.
