Hard Disk Failure Maxtor

Question:

Hard Disk Failure - My Maxtor drive is now detected as Maxtor Athena (or Romulus or N40P or Athena etc) and cannot be accessed any more. What is happening ?

Answer:

This failure is due to loss of firmware code on disk's reserved system area. Recovery at this stage is still possible. You should stop powering up the disk and send it to us for data recovery.
